This is an icon of a form.
Forms

So we all wake up and are not sure what we want to do when we grow up? As a kid, we had tons of different ideas about what to be. I wanted to be a veterinarian and a horse whisperer. I didn’t like anything that had to do with blood, so that wasn’t an option. I found that drawing was less dramatized to me. I started drawing and creating art a lot and I started pursuing my interests. In time, most of us fell in love with UX and design. In this industry, you have to have empathy and just go and make those connections.

So I’m going to talk about the input components, there are a few basic rules that we sometimes miss.

👉 One 👈

A input box with a label on top and text in the middle

Place holder text:
Any time you are filling out a form or designing a form. Make sure we have placeholders for the person filling in the form. Another tip is to make the text subtle enough so that there is enough contrast, as users with visual impairments will definitely find it challenging to read.

👉 Two 👈

Password Input:
We have all different passwords for our emails, social platforms, and programs. Whether on our laptop, tablet, or mobile phone. We need our passwords to access all these platforms. We appreciate the dots that hide our passwords. Having an eye icon there helps the user enter the correct password. The dots become real characters.

👉 Three 👈

This image is form with an error state with label defining each item

Error Message:
Yes, we have encountered them when filling out forms and there’s an oops! Sometimes we go too fast and do not read the instructions. The error message should be concise and not too intrusive, and tell the user what they need to do. Having a real-time inline error message that does not interrupt the flow or distract from the task ahead. Remember you have a bright red color, but don’t have it overwhelming.

Input text and error messages are important in the way we design our products so that everyone can use them. Input can be a simple component, but it will still be overlooked from time to time. Every design you encounter remembers to take a step back and look at what you are designing.
