Currently I am getting my second master’s degree in HCI, and what I have learned about innovation is something that I believed I knew. I’ve been reading a book called “The Art of Innovation” by Tom Kelley. So far, it’s been eye-opening how IDEO started. It describes in the book how they work as a team with the ideas of everyone. The prototypes are built and they work from there. They improved the prototypes as much as they can.
What I found so appealing is they go out in different teams and talk to users or who is their main audience. I like the fact that the IDEO team has come up with different ideas. Granted, some ideas will work and others don’t. So it begins with an idea. You work together as a team. Many companies are currently doing this and working as a team. You might have to deal with different opinions.
When one idea starts, it mixes in with another idea. I mean who is to say it is right or wrong to do things. Of course, everyone has their own opinion. Using universal design principles to shape any product for all types of users. It is possible that any innovation requires “all” design to have the balance between the requirements of a new product or an existing product. What the market needs and can support if it can? Nothing is perfect, and is that point not to be perfect! Design should change, going through the process merely innovation had its course to go through.
If a product does any type of research, it can be measured or not. I think that research will continue to evolve at different levels. This could be a new process or something that could improve our current methods. I always find that if you build it, then test it. The major discoveries you will find may be you and your team did not think of before. I reflect the beauty of innovation is because you get to work with other and discover other insights. I still say there is still a lot more to learn.
Believe accessibility is everything!
