Retiring?

That’s a strange word for me, retiring? Can we retire? Do we think about the future? Do we have enough money to do what we want to do? Can we continue to work and achieve our goals at any age? There is a simple question that people ask of everyone.

“Do you want to retire?”
“What do you want to do when you retire?”
“What age will you retire?”

To be honest, I never thought of doing this, and I just figure I will be in the rat race until I die, or I can’t understand anymore, or my hands don’t work on a computer anymore. I know that is a pitiful version or a depressing thought. I haven’t thought much about it. I always think I would have enough time to do everything I wanted to do. Have you thought of that question?

I thought I would retire at all. I don’t know I’m doing anything else. I know that sounds coming from the left field really. Now think about this question because I am writing this article. When I retire, what will I do? I can honestly say I am not sure. Currently, I don’t want to retire. I don’t imagine sitting at home and not working, but it would be nice to have a longer holiday!

But what peeks my interests is possible writing a book. I think ‘everyone’ wants that, or maybe that is a goal everyone wants to do. I will be an empty nester in the future, and what I will have is my estimable friend’s laptop (MacBook Pro). That will be my partner in crime with this book, which I tend to write. Maybe I should start writing the chapters in 2022? Perhaps that will be my next goal? Who knows. It starts with a certain idea and tries to make the idea a reality.

How about you? What do you want to do in retirement? Travel the world? Trying new things? Please @flaxenink (me) on Twitter. I want to know what you want to do. Here is my list of what I have so far.
- Writing a book
- Getting the book published
- Travel to awesome places
- Meet brilliant people
- Learn something new every month
- Learn how to cook well (Don’t laugh).
- Have fun with my life of what is left of it
- Maybe own my Muay Thai studio
This list could change in the years to come, but why not? I guess I have to start somewhere right? Might as well just start.
