Last week I was honored to be in Careerfoundry with Women in Tech as we recently ended this month. We had many excellent questions, from applying to jobs to starting a new business. This time I wanted to talk about questions… I have talked people since the beginning of the year, and they do ask me questions. I imagine if they believe they are afraid to ask a question, they don’t feel confident about it.

Keywords, scared and confidence… Let’s talk about fear and unravel the word. This can cause many feelings for people who have pain in their stomach or have sweaty hands… Right? This can go in two ways, either we have it or we do not. I tend to think we’ve got it, if a close friend tells you this statement keeps your spirits up.

“You, got this”….

So simple words, but to tell you something in your head, it’s a mental change you can. That’s half the battle when you ask your questions. Sometimes we’re afraid of what’s on the other side. Whatever happens, we have to picture ourselves that “we’ve got that” and you know what we can!

So remember, if you have a question, just ask. Have the confidence and get it, no matter what the task is.

I spoke to another designer today and that person broke into the industry and was doing well. They mention to me that another designer didn’t tell them what the projects were about, and they perceived they were doing it on purpose. Maybe they are, but I mention “You go this”, and remember to always invest in yourself.

When this happens, your mind tends to play tricks on yourself and you start to doubt your skills as a designer. What I say “hog wash” don’t go down this road, it will certainly be bumpy. Stay on your own path. Do what you do best is being you.
